new band and skate photos

Margaret B. sent in a bunch of badass photos. The photo of Al Gibson is at John Wayne before it was layered with metal. (What were they called back then, Southern Plywood Posse?) The mini next to it looks tiny. I think the old Mako's used to be Sugar's, so that Sugar's ramp sat right on the strip. I think Louis Atkinson ended up with its remains, and then it was later used to build one of Emfinger's ramps. I don't know anything about Danny's Garden of Eden. There is also a photo of the banked wall in Baton Rouge here (not sure who that is in the photo). The Acid Bath photo was at Jerry's, and the Reality On Trial, this Butthole Surfers, and this Dash Rip Rock were at John's. Mucho gracias, M.

Our Ripway bandwidth is used up for the day (as of 1 PM on 6/15) so those links to the BR wall, Butthole Surfers and Dash Rip Rock pics are going to be dead until tomorrow.

Danny's garden of eden was in Danny Hall's back yard and alot of shreddin' went on there w/George Brown (Danny's BR cousin being top dog shredder there), George was the drummer in NoMoreFun (punk)and later the Lower Chakras (alternative)out of BR.

Sugars was before Mako's (same location) and Ms. Bumpiss (forgot the name of the skate shop) sponsored Danny and friends to build the Sugar's ramp for the Sugar Jam Skate Comp(Lance Mountain and various pro's including Al Gibson/berry boy were shreddin' that day)R.O.T. were the entertainment that day and Ms. Bumpiss actually paid us $200 for a 45 minute set. . . incredible for the time. . . 1984...

Danny's ramp looks like it was really skinny for a vert ramp. It would be cool to get hold of photos from that jam. I used to have some from that later jam at Get Wet where Tony Magnusson etc. were there, but sadly, I don't know what happened to them.

GET WET. . . that was the name of the skate shop. . . Ms Bumpiss. . . was the owner. . .
Now. . . I don't know if they had one or more comps there. . . but I know we (R.O.T.) played there and I set up the P.A. . . I'm sooo confused. . .

The Get Wet jam was after the one at Sugar's. It was in the parking lot of Acadiana Lanes and Chuck E. Cheese when Get Wet was in that shopping center. I went to a garage sale at I guess Ms. Bumpiss's house on the Northside several years ago. She still had a bunch of old parts and stuff. I bought an old Hosoi that Tony Magnusson signed at that jam.

Heat, I know you've got to still have some killer old skate photos. You should scan some and send them in. Where was Mt. Taco?
