Hamilton's Club last show is tomorrow
Lafayette's losing another landmark club, people...it's a shame. Hamilton's Club is closing down after almost 50 years of hosting zydeco shows. Apparently the owner has heart problems. The last show is Saturday (tomorrow) with Keith Frank and Geno Delafosse. If I still lived there I would be there for sure. You know it will be crazy.
Here's the article: here and here. That's by far the best place I've ever seen a zydeco show. The boards on the wall smack against each other along with the beat of the drums and you can feel the floor bouncing up and down. It will probably be crazy packed though (which is good).

Yeah. . . I can remember when Wednesday nights. . . were called 'white night'. . . in the 80's when it was just starting to get popular for the college crowd at USL. . . the undulating floor. . . good memory. . .
The one club. . . for me. . . that is sorely missed. . . is Jay's Lounge and Cockpit in Cankton. . . saw some awsome legends there. . . Clifton Chenier, Gate Mouth Brown, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Marsha Ball, Erma Thomas, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, . . . jus' to name a few. . . all in the early 70's. . .
I keep hearing about Jay's, sounds cool. Curtis gave me a guy to contact about possibly getting some Jay's flyers. That would be cool.
Did anybody go to the show? Just wondering how it was.
