Various links
Here are some various links of interest. On the airplay front, Chris found this KDHX playlist (St. Louis) which featured Toxin III, The Skinnies, The Normals, The Contenders, Red Rockers, and Manic Depressives (all from N.O. except Toxin), and also this KFAI playlist (Minneapolis, see Sept 6) which featured almost the same lineup. Liz Berg at WFMU played Die Rotzz, Frigg-a-go-go, The Smites, The Zoomers, Urbosleeks, Rare Avis, Toxin III, and The Transmission - see here - and The Mechanics - see here.
Punk Information is a good resource for information about various bands' releases, and is a good place to see what's out there so you can start looking for it.
Allen Jaeger has a lot of posters for NOLA shows 1994-present that you can check out at his site.
This oddfellows blog entry has a lot of good info on obscure N.O. bands. She dated a lot of the musicians apparently. You gotta love the first-hand info.

Thanks for the link! I've added you to my blogroll because I've enjoyed seeing the flyers and the photos of Wayward Youth, etc.
Yeah, we all dated each other back then. All of us either went to school together, worked together, or lived in the same neighborhood. Everyone had some sort of garage band, everyone went to the same clubs. It was great. The world is such a different place now.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
Seriously, thanks for posting all of that info on your blog. Web references to almost all of the early New Orleans and SW LA bands are few and far between. I'll add the info to the NO band index page I've been working on. Can't wait for Part II!
